I’ll let you in on a secret. Making beautiful images is easy. People with no photography or video background do it on their phones everyday. You can learn how to use a drone in 15 minutes. Same with a gimbal. The basics of video editing could be taught to a second grader. The point is, a lot of people can make media without substance.
What’s harder, and potentially takes a lifetime to master, is knowing how to put each of those beautiful images in a sequence to tell an amazing story that grabs a viewer. Whether it’s a feature film or a 15 second spot for social, the elements of story are always the same.
This is what I strive for in my work as a video creator. To use the tools of visual storytelling to make something amazing, with substance, that moves people.
